Reflective – NatureChild

Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

The thesis of my paper never went through a vigorous competition of thought, I chose to talk about the sun because why not? Before submitting my finalized thesis, I did start to have wavering thoughts about alternative ideas that would be easier to carry on. However, as I continued my research to find supportive sources to fit the said theory, I realized something. To be able to fully back up my claims, I would have to expand my sources and take things on a broader scale. A solution to wanting expansion, I thought talking about the negative effects of the sun moving forward and backward out of equilibrium. Choosing to talk about the various negative effects of imbalance opened up new opportunities to further drive my desperation for research. My work showed the various explorations that occurred to further develop my argument.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

Because of the broadness necessary to complete this paper, I was able to critically read through each article explaining the negative effects of change in the sun’s position. Along with broadness, repetition evolved. This trained my mind to critically focus on important differentiating factors to present in the paper. I was not only able to brush up on new information about the sun, but I was also able to get a close understanding of why the change in position could cause so many varying effects. Having to analyze data for the further development of this paper has given me an idea as to why things would slowly or rapidly change as a result of position change. I was able to continue my discussion with all the extensive reading and evaluation that occurred.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

My created definitional argument supported the core number 3. With my topic, A slight change in the sun’s position could affect how the planet Earth continues, I bring up the historical aspects of how important the sun is to the psychological and physical well-being of the inhabitants of the world. Besides the heat and light, the sun provides people with healing, understanding, and natural vitamins to survive. Because I was able to prove this with the researched evidence, I was able to provide relevance to my thesis. The Sun provides life-sustaining properties that are necessary for life on Earth to continue. With the sun being so important, if the position even slightly changed, horrible repercussions would follow as a result. My audience is the individuals who recognize the importance of balance and that change from that would mean big trouble.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

For this stone money assignment, I demonstrated an understanding of the topic and the real relevance of money. I did this by evaluating the perspectives, Consequences, and goals of the topic. During this assignment, I quickly recognized how “devalued” currency truly was by referring to the podcast that we were given to watch. I underwent extensive research to understand various perspectives. It allowed me to understand that money is just an object of stature that visually represents where people are in life and their well-being. With this new information, I was able to gather enough supportive references that helped me incorporate the core value number four. The podcast helped me advance my writing by discovering, evaluating, and verbally illustrating my own ideas and interpretations on the topic.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citations.

In this assignment, I had to recognize and dispute the strongest argument against my thesis that if the sun were to have a slight change in position, the Earth would suffer. I had to thoroughly search the internet to find a relative argument that both piqued my interest and was worthy enough to become an opponent. After some futile attempts while looking, I found an intriguing article that challenged my thesis and influenced me to create my rebuttal argument. I was a bit confused about how to properly construct the argument to adequately represent both sides of each argument but with guidance, I found the “light”. I started off with a considerably average argument but with time, I was able to pull the best parts out of them to create efficient results.

I don’t know how seriously to credit the claims made here, NatureChild—I think not much—but goodness they blow some serious smoke! Rhetorically thrilling.
