  1. Hockey is dangerous 
  2. Hockey is the most dangerous sport 
  3. Hockey has caused more serious injuries than any other sport 
  4. Hockey has caused life threatening injuries such as death due to the lack of gear and dirty plays 
  5. The lack of safer gear in Hockey and bad plays by the players causes serious injuries such as loss of teeth, spinal injuries, and death 
  6. Hockey is an enjoyable sport to watch but it is played very dirty, the lack of gear around the neck is dangerous, and there are no serious penalties given when a player is thrown around badly enough to where they are injured. If we had more regulation and better safety the sport would still be enjoyable and less injuries would occur.

    Fascinating topic, HockeyFan.
    I had no idea hockey resulted in “more serious injuries than any other sport.”
    What does that mean, exactly? More serious injuries numerically? Or more serious injuries per game played? Per player-hour? Per player during their entire career? Per year?

    I wonder if your Hypothesis could perhaps be more about WHY injuries are permitted. Clearly, some sport has to have the most injuries. Even if every sport were carefully regulated to eliminate needless injury, some sports are just naturally more dangerous, involve more contact, or require more physical danger. Ski jumping is probably more dangerous than figure skating, right? If it weren’t THAT would be a cool counterintuitive topic.

    Of the two proposals, which is more important to you? Do you want better gear, or more regulation (stiffer penalties)? Do you acknowledge or dispute the idea that the pro hockey community might not actually WANT to reduce injuries if to do so gives the appearance of sissifying the sport?
