My Hypothesis- Breakingbad45

  1. College students and their mental health
  2. College students dealing with depression.
  3. Discovering the exact reason why college students have a soaring depression rate when attending college originally.
  4. A lack of self-care and having an unhealthy lifestyle are risk factors for stress and anxiety among students. A lack of self-care can cause a sense of guilt which can pose another risk factor.
  5. Colleges and Universities can cause mental health problems when you need to deal with management issues and struggle with taking care of yourself day to day can make it hard on students at a new university.
  6. If you are willing to take control of your management skills and willing to try to change your lifestyle to be productive, college can be less stressful leading more incoming and new students to be less stressed and have to deal with less anxiety, therefore having more students having their mental health and struggles dealt with.

This fascinating topic offers lots of possibilities for expansion into very broad claims, BreakingBad. While that makes it attractive to anyone who wants to be assured she will find endless academic and popular sources, the breadth of the subject makes it dangerous, too.

Narrow and specific is the path to making a beneficial argument in 3000 words. This Hypothesis already shows signs of branching out and becoming unmanageably broad. Topics named or hinted at so far:

    —Self-control
    —Management skills
    —lifestyle changes
    —increased productivity
    —stress reduction
    —mental health/anxiety

    I did a simple Google search: https://www.google.com/search?q=college+success+through+management+skills+to+avoid+mental+illness&oq=college+success+through+management+skills+to+avoid+mental+illness&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCTE1Mzk4ajBqNKgCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

On just the first page of 235,000,000 hits, it delivered 50 general readership articles from wellness institutes and agencies devoted to fostering wellbeing, some of them focused on college. Common titles included Top 5 Mental Health Tips for Students, 7 Tips to Achieve Academic Success, 8 Time Management Tips for Students.

The pattern is worrying. The last thing you want, I hope, is to produce a general survey list of LOTS of aspects of an already broad topic, or a self-help article that recycles the thousands already out there.

But there’s definitely plenty of subject matter to research in the hope you’ll find some deeply intriguing nugget that by itself is worth 3000 words.

Schedule a Zoom Conference. I’m eager to discuss this with you.
