Withdraw (Pass/NoCredit)

Today, MON APR 08, is the deadline

If you are so far behind that finishing your incomplete coursework by WED APR 24, just 16 days from now, is impossible, you have three alternatives, one of them particularly dangerous.

  • Withdraw: Without a successful pathway forward, withdrawing is a reasonable if painful option. If I reached out to you through the Starfish Rowan Success Network system, or in conference or via text, that you were in danger of failing, and if you have not completed substantially all of your missing coursework since then, the time is up for you to make the smart choice. Don’t hold on in vain hope of somehow dodging Failure. Withdrawal—TODAY—is one of three ways to avoid ruining your GPA.
  • P/NC: If you have completed SOME work, and stand a chance of submitting just enough quality work to squeak out a D- by WED APR 24, you can elect the PASS/NO CREDIT option. But only if you commit to that choice TODAY. A P/NC grade will not be computed into your GPA. You can get credit for completing the course, but you won’t be done with Comp II if your program requires a C- or higher, something your advisor will know. (And something I do NOT know.)
  • HAIL MARY. Get the work done in time to pass with a C. This option is dangerous and rarely successful because students who have been unable to produce work throughout the semester almost never turn things around with two weeks to go. It’s also not “a given” that the work you manage to submit will meet the standards for passing. Our Syllabus is clear on one of the primary requirements for Rewriting Course.

Check with your advisor—TODAY—about the relative merits of these options.

You may make either of these requests directly to the Registrar or through Banner:

TODAY is also the date when fall registration opens.

Don’t let pride or false hope prevent you from making the wise choice. Be clear about this: failing to choose today is NOT the wise choice.

If you delay this decision, stop coming to class, but don’t actively withdraw or select P/NC, you will still remain enrolled in the class and receive the final grade that’s appropriate for your completed work.

Here’s the Banner link for Registration Adjustments. You can use this link to withdraw or to elect the P/NC option. It’s been on our Conference Chart since before the first day of class.

Speaking of Conferences, I still have openings in my schedule for this afternoon, and you can request a Zoom chat earlier than 2pm if you need one. Or see me after class.
