The PSA I chose to do was Drunk Driving Prevention- Skeletons. The video starts with a young couple about to get into a car and the girl doesn’t want to go with her boyfriend and friends, instead she just wants to go home. It looks like they have just got done drinking at a bar and are going to a different bar. The boyfriend reassures her that it’s fine and to relax. As the girlfriend gets into a car, one of their friends comes out of the bar holding a beer. He looks like he is staggering a little as he walks and starts to joke with the girl’s boyfriend who is standing outside of the car. The guy that just came from the bar goes and sits down in the driver’s seat after practically throwing his beer to the girl in the passenger seat, who is also holding a beer. The girl’s boyfriend from the beginning asks if the driver is okay to drive when he clearly isn’t. The driver reassures him that he’s fine by saying “Yeah I’m fine, what’s a few beers.” They then drive off and there is a cut scene and all of the people in the car are replaced with skeletons and the narrator says, “If you don’t stop your friend from drinking and driving, your as good as dead.”
A couple clear signs that the driver wasn’t “fine” and not well enough to drive were the way he was acting. When he approached the car he wasn’t walking in a straight path and was all over the place. Even when he sat down in the car you could tell he had had one too many beers. He was carrying a beer with him as he got into the car and violently shoved it into the person next to him telling them to hold it. One of the most obvious things that showed he was too intoxicated to drive was his inability to put the key in the ignition the first couple times. The message here is clear; if you or someone your with has had too much to drink do not let them drive.
